Mary Ann Neely, BSN, RN, Med Surg-BC

PNAGA President, 2024-2026

Who are you, what do you do, and what makes you smile outside of nursing?

Hi! My name is Mary Ann Neely, and I have been a nurse since 2000. Outside of nursing, I like to craft - crochet, scrapbooking, paper crafting, cooking, baking, reading, hiking, anything outdoors! I also love to cook for my family.

In one sentence, what was your project all about?

My project was about membership recruitment and retention.

What was the biggest lesson or "aha!" moment you gained from the experience?

Every generation has their quirks about them. Finding that "sauce" for each generation was difficult.

What challenged you the most, and how did you push through it?

The most challenging part of completing iLDP was finishing each project on time. I don't like to turn anything in late. I stayed up many nights to finish before the due date. I drank lots of coffee. Sometimes I drank so much I couldn't sleep and had to go to work without sleeping!

For members thinking about applying next year: Why should they take the leap?

You learn a lot about yourself, too. The knowledge I gained helped me in my nursing career as a leader on my unit.
